There is a new member of Lexus' IS family of diesel cars. The new Lexus IS 220d Sport comes equipped with just the same 175 horsepower four-cylinder diesel engine with common rail fuel injection system. Although engine's power and torque -- which is 295 lb-ft @ 2,000 rpm -- are pretty much the same, the IS 220d features a small tweak to its rear axle. Lifting the differential gear ratio from 2.474 to 3.200, Lexus' engineers made the car more comfortable to operate on the final drive.

During the ongoing Commercial Vehicle Show, which takes place in the British city of Birmingham VW shows-off its new VW Crafter commercial van. The latest (and the largest) generation of VW's commercial vehicles sports a choice of five-cylinder engines, a six-speed manual gearbox and a payload capacity of 17 cubic meters and almost 2.7 tons.

The new Japanese hybrid will be initially sold only in eight states of the U.S. Citing lack of demand on hybrid vehicles that usually cost $3,000 more than a similar model that runs on gasoline, Nissan decided to offer its new Nissan Altima Hybrid in California, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Rhode Island, Maine and New Jersey, as reported by Bloomberg.

The British Caterham officially presented its new Superlight R400 race-car with a street license. The new R400, which will be built around the fresh Cosworth-designed 2.0-liter 210bhp @ 7600rpm and 150lbft of torque at 6300 rpm engine, born to supersede the older Rover-based Superlight.

Suzuki has successfully introduced its 'all-new' XL7 crossover SUV to the American market. The new XL7 is new indeed, because it is based on a front-wheel-drive car platform known as Theta, while the older version was truck-based. To retain its body strength, Suzuki's engineers decided to equip the new XL7 with special full-length underbody rails.

Nissan-owned Infiniti luxury brand has officially unveiled its new top-of-the-line Infiniti G35 business sedan. Considering the fact that the G35 accounts for about 1/3 of all Infinity-branded cars sold in the U.S. success of the redesigned version is crucial for the Japanese automaker. No wonder that the 2007 Infiniti G35 comes with a powerful VQ-series 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engine, which produces more than 300 horsepower and can be married with a set of transmissions, including a choice of a five-speed automatic with manual shift and Downshift Rev Matching or close-ratio six-speed manual.

With a quarter of a million units sold in the year 2005 alone, the third generation Altima was one of the most popular sedans of this class sold on the U.S. market. Tomorrow Mercedes-Benz will officially present its redesigned E-Class luxury sedan and station wagon. Being touted as 'next generation' and 'pioneering', the new E-Class is rather face-lifted version of the older model. What is really new, is that the German company did its best to get rid of the long chain of quality problems that substantially eroded its brand and client base during the last couple of years. Now Mercedes hopes that the new E-Class will be able to win back customers who defected to their rivals from BMW and Audi.

The new Audi TT has been officially presented to the public on April 6. The second generation of the extremely popular sport coupe claimed to be even more energetic than the very first TT.
