Recently created Liberty Electric Cars Ltd. plans to convert luxury cars and SUVs into electric vehicles. Priced between £95,000 and £125,000, the cars will sell in tens of thousands units. At least, such are Liberty's plans for the nearest future.

Nick Reilly, GM President Asia-Pacific, has officially confirmed that his company is planning to introduce a gas-electric hybrid vehicle to the Australian market. Looks, like the best candidate to get a hybrid powerplant in the nearest future is current Holden Commodore sedan, which is also available in the U.S. market as the Pontiac G8 and is sharing its platform with the upcoming 2008 Chevrolet Camaro.

New Subaru Impreza WRC 2008 was officially resented to the public just a week ahead of its official debut at the Acropolis Rally in Greece on May 29th. Chrysler is indeed going to release a drag-racing package for its Dodge Challenger sports car. Set to reach dealerships in July, the new tuning kit will do for both professional racers and enthusiasts. The package will probably consist of a lighter-weight chassis, which is about 800 pounds (363 kg) lighter than the original car, a number of different versions of the current 5.9-liter HEMI and Magnum engines mated to either automatic or manual gearboxes.

The Autocar magazine reports that the Skoda Yeti small SUV will finally make it to assembly line. Set to reach Skoda's dealerships by mid-2009, the Yeti will have virtually zero rivals since even the Volkswagen Tiguan and Renault Koleos will look like giants in comparison to the junior Czech SUV. Its only serious competitor will be the Suzuki Jimney 4x4, known for its Spartan contempt to driver's comfort.

Ford UK is expanding the Ford Mondeo product line with new flagship. The Titanium X Sport model comes equipped with more powerful 2.2-liter TDCi diesel engine capable of accelerating the car from zero to 62mph in 8.4 seconds and bringing it to a top speed of 139 mph (224 km/h). Definitely not a Porsche, but seems adequate for a daily driving routine.

As we have already reported, the iconic Tesla Roadster electric vehicle will come to Europe next year and Tesla's Norwegian rep is already taking orders for the first iteration of the expensive EV equipped with soon to be deprecated two-speed gearbox and a 248 hp motor. Just like it is normal for a company with IT roots, there is already a 1.1 version of the car in the works. Europeans will get it, too.
