Although some people may consider tuning the beautiful Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG an act of sacrilege, Kicherer, a German tuning specialist, apparently has a dissenting opinion on this case. Its new Evo kit increases the coupe's available power from 518hp to 560hp and its peak torque also jumps from 465 lb-ft to slightly more impressive 495 lb-ft (670Nm).

Koenigsegg, the Swedish exotic car manufacturer, is reportedly planning to jump into the four-door-supercar bandwagon, joining the likes of Aston Martin Rapide, 2009 Maserati Quattroporte and the Porsche Panamera grand tourer. Set to be unveiled as a prototype model at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, the, err, family supercar will feature a 700hp V8 engine and lots of carbon fiber.

The price includes the $670 destination charge and applies to the base model with a 5-speed manual gearbox mated to a standard for the whole range 117hp, 1.5-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine. Replacing the manual with a five-speed automatic will increase the 2009 Honda Fit's price tag to more impressive $16,020, but at the same time will improve its fuel economy rating from 27/33/29 mpg in the city/highway/combined cycles to 28/35/31 mpg respectively.

In a desperate effort to save its Highlander mid-size SUV, Toyota has officially announced that the 2009 MY car will get a new, more fuel-efficient engine. Producing only 187 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque, it will be just a shadow of current Highlander's 3.5-liter V6 VVT-i engine capable of producing up to 270 hp 248 pound-feet of torque.

OK, we have first detailed info on the BMW's Edition Sport package for the 2008 BMW 6 Series model. It looks like the package won't include any upgrades to the vehicle's standard engines, but there will anyway be an M anti-roll stabilization system, which will include stiffened axles - by 10 percent at the front and by 30 percent at the rear, definitely improving 6 Series' handling.

Bosch Motronic's serial ECU module reprogrammed by Hamann increases Mini Cooper D diesel engine's maximum power output from 110hp to more interesting 136 horsepower available at 4000rpm. The oil-burner's peak torque is also increased to 300 Nm available between 1750 and 2000 rpm. Unfortunately, Hamann doesn't specify whether this enormous (for the car of this size) amount of moment is available in a normal or an Overboost mode.

Toyota's performance parts supplier TRD starts selling supercharger kits for the Toyota Tundra truck and the Toyota Sequoia full-size SUV, the latter based on the former. The new supercharger, actually revealed back in June, increases the standard V8 engine's maximum power and torque from 381hp / 401 lb-ft to more appealing 504hp and 550 lb-ft.

Bugatti plans to officially unveil its long awaited Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport roadster at the upcoming Pebble Beach Concourse d'Elegance next Saturday on August 16th, 2008.
