Mitsubishi has failed to unveil its new 2008 Lancer Evo X at the 2007 IAA motor show in Frankfurt, yet there is still a chance we will actually see the car at the upcoming 40th Tokyo Motor Show to be held from October 26th through November 11th.

Mitsubishi has just made another step to bid the farewell to the current Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX earth-scorcher. First previewed in January as the Prototype X, the upcoming Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X ("X" stands for "Ten" in Roman digits) will be slightly less aggressive and more mainstream than the concept model.

The 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer will be sold in three trim lines with Lancer DE --the cheapest model in the line-- starting at price of just $13,990. For the money, you'll get a CVT, a set of 16-inch wheels, driver's knee airbag, power windows and side view mirrors, immobilizer, auto-off headlamps, audio system with mp3 playback and four speakers.

So, the 2007 Mitsubishi Pajero/Shogun sheds some extra fat to make visible its outstanding muscles. Why? Because, although spectacular and, er, very ethnic, sumo has a serious drawback: the most advanced athletes in most cases die young because of too much fat lying on their hearts, suffocating them.

Reuters is reporting that Indian Hindustan Motors Ltd. is going to start assembling popular Mitsubishi's iCar / kei super-minis by the end of next year. It is expected, that the vehicle will be imported in India 'in a semi-knocked down form' and then re-assembled at a factory near Chennai.

The new Mitsubishi Outlander SUV will be officially introduced to the public during the upcoming motor show in Paris which is scheduled on September. The Japanese company plans to start selling the new Outlanders sometime in spring 2007, Leftlane News reports.

Mitsubishi plans to offer a new tuning package for the 2006 Lancer sedan. The Lancer SE will set you back for $16,099 and for this price you'll get 15-inch alloy wheels, chrome door handles and color-keyed mirrors. That's not all, of course, as there will also be power glass sunroof, six-speaker stereo system and Alcantara seating surfaces. The "Special Edition" is available in four exterior colors: Cool Silver, Graphite Gray, Igloo White and Labrador Black.

Inspired by Apple's iconic media player, Japanese automakers created the Mitsubishi iCar Play Edition, which does not only resemble the famous iPod but is also fully compatible with it. At least, The Register says, iPod nano fits it perfectly.
