GM has just started sellling its 2008 Chevy Cobalt XFE compact with a class-leading highway fuel economy rating. With its 36mpg in the highway cycle, the XFE comes neck to neck or even beats such competitors as Honda Civic Coupe (34-36 mpg), Ford Focus (35 mpg) and Toyota Corolla (35 mpg). It delivers nice 25 mpg in the city cycle.

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1: 638 hp confirmed!
GM's new LS9 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine has been officially certified by SAE as having a maximum power output of impressive 638 hp and peak torque of 819 Nm (604 lb-ft). Delivering almost 103 hp per liter, the supercharged LS9 is the most powerful engine ever installed by GM in a production vehicle. In the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, that is.

2008 Chevy Tahoe Hybrid mileage announced
The 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid SUVs are reported to go as many as 21 miles per gallon of gas in the city driving conditions (for the 2WD model), which is 50 per cent better than the same model with an ordinary 5.3-liter V8 powerplant may achieve. The numbers will not be equally impressive on the highway, though, being 22mpg and 20mpg respectively.

2008 Chevrolet Malibu
General Motors has announced that its 2008 Chevrolet Malibu midsize sedan will come to dealerships by November 1, 2008 and will start at $19,345. Although not really expensive, the car nevertheless bears $2,000 heavier price tag than the 2007 year's model and is noticeably pricier than its close competitors, such as Toyota Camry and, probably, 2008 Honda Accord.
