Dodge Challenger Concept to go into production
Chrysler has apparently approved the highly acclaimed sports coupe to be put on the assembly line. The Dodge Challenger Concept, built on the legacy of the American 'muscle-cars' and first unveiled at the 2006 Detroit auto show, will be put on the assembly line sometime next year.
AutoWeek reports that the car will be built on the same LX platform, which is now shared among the Chrysler 300C, Dodge Magnum and Dodge Charger.
In its present form, the Dodge Challenger Concept features the 6.1-liter 425 horsepower SRT8 Hemi V8 engine married with a six-speed manual gearbox. The pair is sweet enough to make the car run from zero to sixty in 4.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 174 mph.
Technical specification of the production version is not known.
