Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Wallpaper* unveiled

If you think that the stock Ferrari 612 Scaglietti GT doesn't look original enough, then you should consider this special edition. Created by Ferrari GB in a close cooperation with Wallpaper* magazine, the four-seater features a subtle two-tone paint scheme. In fact, it is so subtle you can't even see it on the pictures.







In its press release, Ferrari GB says that the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Wallpaper* was created to show all the possibilities which are opened by the company's Carrozzeria Scaglietti Personalisation Programme. The job was done by Wallpaper's creative director Tony Chambers and art editors Merion Pritchard and David McKedrick.

The big trio decided to use two closest looking colors in Ferrari's program: Nero and Blu Pozzi. Unfortunately, most LCD monitors do not let one appreciate the color scheme, but I believe that this is what the designers really wanted to achieve: although not visible at first glance, the tone differences give the car almost the same look that you can see on heavily-photoshopped magazine ads and wallpapers, if you know what I mean.

Inside, the color differences are more discernible. For example, Scaglietti's Daytona seats are made of Nero and Blu Scuro leather with Blu stitching. The same materials are employed to make a six-piece luggage set that features Wallpaper* logo and scallops reflecting those on the car itself.

The bespoke elements include Wallpaper* branding on the aluminum kickplates, discreet branding on the leather of the glovebox lid, and a custom-made leather pocket for the magazine's new Wallpaper* City Guides which will be launched in September 2006 as part of the Wallpaper* 10th anniversary celebrations.

From the technical point of view, the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti Wallpaper* seems to be absolutely standard, if one can apply the adjective to a Ferrari. There is a 65° V12 5.7-liter engine that generates 540 hp at 7,250 rpm. Mated to the F1 gearbox, the engine lets the car to sprint from zero to 62 mph in just 4.2 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 199 mph.
