Citroen C4 gets a new electronic gearbox
Citroën has introduced a new six-speed electronic gearbox system. Featured on 1.6HDi 110hp models of the C4, the gearbox gets rid of the clutch pedal and lets the driver choose gears with paddleshift or lever gearchange, so combining the convenience of an automatic transmission with 'driver involvement' of a manual.

New Car Net reports that the new gearbox is 6 per cent more fuel efficient then the current models, providing the car with impressive 63 mpg on the combined cycle (although, 'performance may wary', you know) and reducing CO2 emissions to just 120 g/km. Making the car even greener, Citroën has equipped the new C4s with a Diesel Particulate Filter System, which reduces particle emissions to almost zero level.

The magazine says that the C4s with the electronic gearbox will be 'a few hundred pounds' more expensive than the models with conventional transmissions. In July prices will start from £14,390 for the 1.6HDi 110hp SX hatchback.
