Citroen C4 gets a new electronic gearbox
The Citroen C4 1.6HDi model, which is powered by a 1.6-liter 110hp diesel engine, will soon receive a new, clutchless, gearbox that allows drivers to change gears using an F1-like paddle-shifters on the steering wheel. Cool, huh?

The new gearbox is 6 per cent more fuel efficient then the current models, providing the car with impressive 63 mpg on the combined cycle (although, 'performance may wary', you know) and reducing CO2 emissions to just 120 g/km. Making the car even greener, Citroën has equipped the new C4 with a Diesel Particulate Filter System, which reduces particle emissions to almost zero level.

The C4 equipped with the electronic gearbox will be a few hundred pounds more expensive than the models with conventional transmissions. Prices will start from £14,390 for the 1.6HDi SX hatchback.

The car will go on sale in July, 2006.
