Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG And CLK 63 AMG to Debut In Geneva
During the Geneva Motor Show 2006, which will take place in Switzerland this March, Mercedes-Benz plans to surprise the public with a whole bunch of brand new and redesigned models. Among others the company is expected to present its supercharged R-Class touring wagon that features a powerful 6.3-litre V8 engine. But the most anticipated is the pair of CLS and CLK sport cars tuned up in its Mercedes-AMG facility.
Both Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG and CLK 63 AMG are equipped with almost the same 6.3-litre V8 engine, which, however, produces different power and torque depending on model. The larger and heavier CLS 63 AMG features 514 hp and the engine is mated with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC transmission. This is enough to give it impressive 4.5 seconds 0 - 62mph (100 km/h) time and an electronically restricted 155mph (250 km/h) top speed.
The company says that the car also sports the new AMG sports suspension based on the semiactive air suspension system AIRMATIC DC, incorporating the ADS II Adaptive Damping System.

Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Coupe and Cabriolet will give drivers quite a different experience. They are also equipped with 6.3-litre V8 powertrains and the AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC transmission, but this time the engines are a little bit suppressed to produce 'mere' 481 hp of power and 630 Newton meters of torque. Both cars sport new 18-inch AMG light-alloy wheels and high-performance front wheels composite brake system.
