Mercedes plans to offer a hybrid vehicle in 2008
Reuters reports that DaimlerChrysler has unveiled its plans to launch its own hybrid car under the Mercedes brand. Citing an article in the latest Wirtschaftswoche magazine, Reuters says that 'a competitive concept' will be brought to the market 'at the start of 2008'.
Because hybrid vehicles are generally much more expensive to research and to produce, Mercedes' first take on this perspective concept will be based on some of the S-Class models: this cars are so expensive, that additional three-to-five thousand euros will not even be noticed by cars' prospective owners.
Anyway, it will be a so-called "mild" hybrid, which will boost car's acceleration and increase its mileage but will cost less than a full hybrid.
