Project Kimber plans to assemble Smart Roadster in Wales
Project Kimber industry group that was initially formed to acquire MG Rover business but, failing to do so, decided to re-launch the discontinued Smart Roadster, has unveiled its plans to open a new production facility somewhere in Wales, Great Britain.
Although the group is yet to find the specific site to build there a factory, Project Kimber has to finish transferring the necessary equipment and tooling from Smart's Hambach factory in time to commence production in mid-2007. Channel4.com reports that Project Kimber plans to make over 8,000 roadsters in the first year.
It is rumored that the new car will be sold under the Triumph trade mark, which is currently held by BMW.
