Special edition Mercedes SLK 55 AMG will be marketed as the Black Series

Mercedes-Benz has issued yet another press release, focused on the upcoming Mercedes SLK 55 AMG special edition coupe. The car, which will get rid of a lot of weighty comfort features in favor of driving dynamics (the souped-up SLK version is 45kg lighter than the basic vehicle), will be officially called the Mercedes SLK 55 AMG Black Series.







To justify the new moniker, the car will feature lots of black accents in both its exterior and interior decoration. For example, the front wings will feature black outlined air outlets. Non-retractable roof's central section will also be made of black-colored carbon-fiber composites. Car's saloon is also a mix of darker shades of gray with charcoal black.

As is already known the special edition SLK 55 AMG two-seater will be equipped with a powerful 5.5-liter V8 petrol engine, which is able to produce some 400 horsepower and 520Nm of torque. The engine is mated with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC transmission with manual drive program and AMG aluminum shift paddles on the steering wheel.

DaimlerChrysler promises to deliver the first lot of the new SLK 55 AMG Black Series coupes before the end of July. In Germany, the car will cost €107,300 (including 16 % VAT).
