Morgan launches its 70th Anniversary four-seater
Morgan's four-seater is, generally, a four-seater. Remaining in production for the last 70 years and staying almost unchanged, the 4/4 ca now be ordered with one of a pair of Ford's Duratec engines -- a 2.0-liter, 145 hp for the +4 model, or a 236 hp 3.0-liter V6 for the Roadster.
That's enough to provide the +4 with a top speed of 118 mph and accelerate it from zero to 62 mph in 7.5 seconds. The Roadster fares even better, getting to the 62 mph in just 5.0 seconds and achieving a maximum speed of 130 mph.
The vehicle is not really huge, but its saloon is large enough to make room for a family with a couple of kids (by the way, the rear seats now come with Isofix child seat mounting points).
Channel4.com says that the restyled version comes with new side screens, 18-inch stainless steel wire wheels and a full-length wooden center consol which may be ordered as an option. Price is not too high, especially for a handbuilt vehicle: prices start from £32,020 for the +4 and £39,130 for the V6, and delivery times currently stand at 6-12 months.
All the 70th Anniversary edition Morgans will be offered with a folding windscreen, vintage dash, sheepskin-covered leather bonnet straps and drilled-steel wheels with chrome hubcaps. The interesting part is that the cars will be offered with different period colors, trims and hood styles. Currently company plans to build only 142 70th Anniversary models, equipping them with the 125bhp 1.8-litre Duratec engine and asking a price of mere £27,950.
