New Ford Ranger details and pricing revealed

Arriving to British dealers in September, the new Ford Ranger pickup truck comes with a new common rail 2.5-liter diesel engine and features extended service intervals, which now have been extended to 12,500 miles/one year.







The Ranger's new 2.5-liter Duratorq TDCi common-rail fuel injection diesel engine sports increased power output from the previous 109PS to 143PS and increased torque from 226Nm @ 2000rpm to 330Nm @ 1,800 rpm. In its press release Ford says that the new engine makes much less noise, especially inside the cabin. The engine is mated with a five-speed manual transmission that can be ordered in both 4x2 and 4x4 versions.

New Ranger's suspension features independent double wishbone with torsion bar springs front and rigid leaf springs on the rear. Four-wheel ABS is standard.

There is also a major overhaul inside the driver's cabin. New seats now feature a new sculpted seatback, wider shoulders, improved bolster and a larger headrest. Silver and chrome details are everywhere and the number of stowage areas has also been significantly increased, including a two-bin center console to store CDs, mobile phones and sunglasses. New Ford Rangers also have an integrated radio with an in-dash CD player in their list of standard equipment (an in-dash six-CD player and additional speakers are also available on XLT and Thunder models).

The new Ford Ranger features a maximum payload of 1,075 kg (2370 lbs.) and maximum towing of 1,600 (4x2), 3,000 (4x4) kg (3527 and 6600 lbs. respectively) with trailer.

On-the-road prices range from £15,622 to £18,388.
