Toyota Prius Touring Edition launched
The new Touring Edition adds to the standard Toyota Prius hybrid gas-sipper a European-tuned suspension, 16-inch wheels, as well as a full set of seat-mounted side airbags and front and rear side curtain airbags, which were previously optional.
Visually, the Toyota Prius Touring Edition can be distinguished by its larger alloy wheels, HID headlamps and foglamps integrated into the front bumper.
The Touring will also sport more impressive rear spoiler, said in the company's press release.
The rest of the vehicle's specs seem to be pretty much the same. The hybrid comes with the same 1.5-liter four-banger Atkinson Cycle gasoline engine, producing 76 hp and 82 lb-ft (111 Nm) of torque, working together with a permanent-magnet electric drive that features a maximum power of 67 horsepower @ 1,200-1,540 rpm, and peak torque of 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) @ 0-1,200 rpm. This is about 110 hp of combined power.
As to the fuel economy, the Prius Touring Edition features the same 60/51/55 mpg city/highway/combined cycle driving.
Toyota plans to sell the new Prius Touring Edition for as low as $23,070. The hybrid will go on sale on September.
