2007 Land Rover Defender officially unveiled
Although receiving some major enhancements to its interior and drivetrain, the old-new Land Rover Defender preserves its military spirit and orthogonal body style. The only change to the exterior is the SUV's new bonnet, designed to fit the Defender's new 2.4-liter diesel engine with common rail fuel injection system.

The four-cylinder engine, capable to produce up to 122 PS and over 232 lb-ft (315 Nm) of torque, comes from Ford and is fully Euro IV compliant. The company insists that, although being tuned work on the European high-quality diesel fuel, the new engine still shows tolerance to low-quality high-sulphur fuels, commonly present in the Third World countries, like, for example, Russia or Congo.

The engine is mated to the new GTF MT 82 six-speed gearbox, adapted to make towing on-road and off-road easier.
