2007 SEAT Altea XL offers more legroom, luggage space
Spanish SEAT has unveiled a bigger member of the growing Altea family. The new Seat Altea XL, a stretched version of the Altea people mover, is 18.7 cm longer, offering additional 123 liters to the older vehicle's 409 cargo volume.


The cargo space may be expanded even more, to 635 liters after sliding the rear seats towards the front row by some 14 centimeters, says SEAT in its press release.

The vehicle is motivated by a choice of five engines -- two petrol and three diesels. The petrol models are a 102 horsepower 1.6-liter motor and a more advanced 2.0 FSI, capable of developing a maximum of 150 hp and available only with the six-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission.

As for the diesels, theMPV can be ordered with the 105 hp 1.9 TDI, the 140 hp 2.0 TDI (which can be mated with the optional six-speed gearbox DSG) or the 170 hp 2.0 TDI.

The Altea XL comes with an extensive set of optional and standard equipment, starting with the TomTom GO 710 navigation system and continuing the list with air conditioning, radio/mp3 player, 16-inch steel wheels, tire pressure sensor and so on. Safety is ensured with ABS + TCS, Isofix anchoring points for attaching child seats, and as an option, the ESP + DSR with EBA.

Full technical specifications and prices will be unveiled later this year before the SEAT Altea XL's official launch.
