Understanding that the latest Porsche 911 Turbo is itself a car that can put to the test driving abilities of the most skilled drivers, German 9ff Fahrzeugtechnik tuner offers its tuning package separated into three progressive stages.
Let's face it; Porsche 911 Turbo is a car that makes tuning specialists scratch their heads. I mean, how many drivers are crazy enough to desire additional horsepower and the torque from a street-legal car with a zero-to-60 acceleration of just 3.7 seconds and a top speed of more than 310 km/h? I know, you would like to get your hands on such a monster, but we are now talking about guys, making a hell lot of many, which means that they either control a crack-smuggling franchise or run a California start-up in. Oh, doesn't matter, anyway.
So, where was I? 9ff offers its tuning package in three stages.
The first stage is limited to putting on the 911 Turbo a new sport exhaust system with metal catalytic converters, free flowing air filters and reprogramming the 911's ECU. Accordingly, the engine produces 55 hp more horsepower while retaining it reliability.
Modifications are so subtle that the 911 Turbo's 0-60 mph acceleration remains at the same 3.7 seconds, but the 0-125 jump gets 1.2 seconds less and the Porsche's top speed advances to 202 mph (325 km/h).
The second stage means adding new stainless steel headers and custom 9ff camshafts, so the power output jumps to 560 mph and the torque peaks at 550 lb-ft (745 Nm). These enhancements let slash 0.1 second in 0-60 mph and reduce 0-125 mph acceleration to just 11.3 seconds.
And now, the third stage. Adding a pair of larger VTG turbochargers and a larger than life aluminum intercoolers increases the maximum available horsepower to 640 hp and the torque rises to impressive 600 lb-ft (814 Nm). No wonder, that 0-60 acceleration now takes only 3.5 seconds and 0-125 mph lowers to 10.7 seconds. The top speed rises to 213 mph. Enough said.
