Abt Sportsline has finally revealed its own, a Rammstein-style, tuning program for the
2007 Audi Q7 car-based SUV..
The original 2007 Audi Q7, which is supposed to compete against the new
BMW X5 Е70 off-roader, sports an aggressive -even somewhat brutal- eye-catching exterior, powerful 350hsp 4.2-litre FSI V-8 engine, a six-speed Tiptronic transmission and an advanced 40/60 front-to-rear full-time all-wheel-drive Quattro system. So, it is quite clear that Abt's engineers didn't have to rebuild the car from scratch.
Instead, the German company equipped the Abt Q7 with new fender extensions, new skirts all-round, added a stylish rear wing and painted the car with a two-colored contrasting, err... paint. Standard 18-inch tires are replaced with more aggressive 275/45 R20 or 295/30 R22 Conti CrossContact wrapped around the huge Type AR one-piece wheels. And the native exhaust system has been thrown away to clear some space for a pair of 84mm double-barrels.
The Q7's 3.0-liter TDI engine has also received a healthy dose of male hormones getting its maximum power output increased from 233 to more compelling 272hp (the SUV crashes the scale at 2245 kg, after all) and its peak torque also rises from 500 Nm to 580 Nm. Interestingly, the ECU-tuned diesel gets almost as powerful as the 3.6-liter VR6 FSI engine but delivers 60 percent more torque making the Q7 even more appealing in the city driving cycle.
