2008 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor to work on E85 ethanol

While the British Bobbies drive new hybrid Lexus GS 450h and Honda Civic vehicles, American cops are still waiting for their flexible fuel vehicles capable of burning either E85 ethanol or normal gasoline. When ready, the new E85 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor will join already available to normal citizens E85 Ford F-150 and Mercury Grand Marquis.







Controlling more than 80 per cent of the market, Ford is the major supplier of police vehicles in the U.S. Therefore, introduction of a police car working on a flex fuel may mark a significant step towards converting nation's police fleet to more efficient and green FFV cars.

The flexible fuel 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptors are certified to meet emissions rules set by the Federal government, as well as California, which lets Ford to sell the cars nationwide.

The cars will start popping off the product line in May. While on the road, you will be able to tell an E85 Crown Victoria from an ordinary gas-guzzler by a yellow cap on its gas tank.
