2008 Cadillac STS
Cadillac is making final preparations to unveil its facelifted 2008 Cadillac STS luxury performance sedan. Equipped with powerful 298 hp V6 engine, the new STS will have to compete against such well-established marques as the new BMW 5-Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6 and the upcoming Jaguar XF, to name a few. Is it ready for the challenge?

Well, no one knows for sure but guys from General Motors clearly wanted the to be discontinued STS to shut the door with a bang.

The new Cadillac STS has received new dual-textured corporate grille already tested at the 2008 Cadillac CTS and the Cadillac Escalade large SUV, and a set of vertically stacked headlamps with 70mm projector lenses available with Intellibeam system. The STS's front fenders are now featuring a pair of side air extractors.

The vehicle's interior has been revamped to featuring more expensive genuine wood trims and this sort of staff, including new projection display that, err, projects the most important data onto the windshield.

What's really new about the 2008 Cadillac STS is GM's latest direct-injection V-6 engine. The 3.6-liter motor produces 40 per cent more power and its peak torque has also been increased from 252 lb-ft to more prominent 268 lb-ft. The engine is mated to GM's new Hydra-Matic 6L50 six-speed automatic transmission and still may be ordered with older AWD transmission.

The new Cadillac STS will be available by mid-summer. Price and full specifications will be announced soon.
