New Mercedes-Benz C-Class with 4Matic AWD unveiled
Mercedes-Benz takes about 20 per cent of its global sales from models equipped with 4Matic permanent all-wheel-drive system. In the U.S. this amount is almost two times higher, so you must get the idea how important it was to adapt the system to the all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class vehicles as soon as possible. The widely-popular among the U.S. motorists system is available to the six-cylinder members of the family, specifically -- C 280, C 350 and, for the first time, C 320 CDI diesel model.
The new system, which is pretty good at countering mud and ice, is characterized by lower weight and better fuel efficiency. For example, the new Mercedes-Benz C 280 4Matic equipped with 231 hp six-banger consumes only 9.6 liter of premium gasoline per 100 km (25 mpg), which is 0.2 liters less than its predecessor used to drink. The new C 320 CDI 4Matic with 224hp-powered oil-burner consumes only 7.7 liters per 100 kilometers (37 mpg).
The 4Matic cars are coming with standard Agility Control package consisting of selective damper control, seven airbags, crash-responsive head restraints, automatic climate control and light-alloy wheels. The seven-speed automatic transmission 7G-Tronic with an integrated transfer case with 45 :55 front-rear torque distribution ratio is also available.
