Electric-powered Mini Cooper to arrive next year
The American Hybrid Technologies company is reportedly working on an electric-powered version of the BMW Mini Cooper small hatchback. Although the company is promising that the electric mini will save you about $1250 dollars a year on gasoline, the cars will sell at such a high price that you will have to wait at least 30 years to get your money back.

The electric Mini will be powered by a set of lithium polymer batteries from Kokam and will be able to travel about 160 miles on a single charge. It will take the batteries some five hours to recharge.

The problem, Wired is saying, is that Hybrid Technologies is planning to sell the all-electric BMW Mini Cooper at mind-blowing $59,000, which means that you can pour in additional fifty thousand bucks and buy the much sexier Tesla Roadster EV. Or wait a year and get yourself a much more practical ZAP electric crossover SUV.
