Peugeot 207 Van: fewer windows, more cargo space
At the 2007 CV Show in Birmingham, UK, Peugeot has unveiled its new small-business-oriented micro-van based on the last year Peugeot 207 small hatchback. Featuring the same overall length of 4.03 m, width of 1.92 m, wheel base of 2.54 m and overall height of 1.47 m as the parent model but sacrificing the rear seats, the panelized Peugeot 207 Van provides a maximum load area of 1.1 m3 and a payload of 450 kg.
To keep the operating costs down, Peugeot plans to offer the 207 Van with a choice of two HDi diesel engines mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The entry-level 1.4-liter oil-burner will produce a maximum of 70 bhp, and the more capable 1.6-liter engine will have a maximum power output of 90 horsepower.
There will also be a 1.4-liter gasoline engine, producing up to 75 bhp.
The Peugeot 207 Van will be offered with standard driver and passenger airbag and side airbags, although ESP will be available only as an option.
