2008 BMW M3 Coupe gets the price tag
BMW has finally revealed some pricing information on its 4th generation BMW M3 coupe. In the U.K., equipped with a 4.0-liter, 420hp V8 engine, the super-coupe will cost generous £50,625 on the road.
Although the car seems damn expensive for the class and features much too controversial exterior design, it seems like the 2008 BMW M3 won't have hard time competing against the new Mercedes-Benz CLK63 Black Series or the upcoming Audi RS5 sport coupe.
The car's secret weapon is its new V8 engine. Actually, the first V8 ever installed on the M3-series model. Based on the V10 engine we've seen on the current BMW M5 (in fact, it's the same engine with two cylinders ripped-off), it is about 30-pound lighter that the 3.2-liter straight-six from the previous M3. Featuring an aluminum block, magnesium cam covers and aluminum-silicon alloy in the crankcase, the beast is capable of producing up to 420 hp @ 8,300 rpm and a peak torque of 295 lb-ft reached at 3,900 rpm.
The 2008 BMW M3 accelerates from zero to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds and its top speed is limited at 155mph. But wait, there is more™! Being more powerful, the engine is at the same time less thirsty, drinking 8 per cent less gasoline than the older six-banger.
