Volvo S80 receives new D5 and T6 engines
Volvo's recently-introduced flagship luxury sedan has just received a couple of new, more powerful and fuel-efficient engines. The Volvo S80 is now available with the company's latest 285 hp T6 engine with AWD we've already seen on the new Volvo V70, and a new D5 turbo diesel engine producing up to 185 hp.

Volvo S80 receives new T6 engines
The T6, company says in its press release, is based on the compact 3.2-liter in-line aluminum engine but has a slightly smaller displacement of only 3.0 liters. Although the engine features slightly narrower cylinder bore and shorter stroke, it is still produces up to 285 hp and 400 Nm of torque reached at 1,500 rpm and available till the arrow hits the red zone. This is done with the help of the engine's sophisticated yet compact two-stage "twin-scroll" turbocharger dividing inflow of air into two lots of three cylinders each.

The five-cylinder D5 turbo diesel can also be combined with AWD in the Volvo S80. Although producing only 185 hp, the oil-burner features the same amount of torque as the T6. The D5 is equipped with electronically controlled turbocharger and advanced multi-point injection technology.
