Cadillac Escalade Hybrid SUV is a go
So, it will happen. GM CEO Rick Wagoner officially confirmed that General Motors is working on a hybrid version of Cadillac Escalade luxury SUV, which is set for release in late 2007. Escalade's hybrid transmission designed at GM's Allison division will be assembled at the Powertrain Baltimore Transmission plant. According to the corporate press release, the heavy-duty two-mode hybrid transmission will be similar to those used in a Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon SUVs.
The hybrid version of the iconic luxury truck will also feature regenerative braking, all-electric launch and drive capability and cylinder deactivation technology on the internal combustion engine that will help the 2007 Cadillac Escalade to achieve a 25 percent gain in fuel economy. It means that on a highway the SUV will run around 30 miles on a gallon of gasoline.
