2007 Volvo XC90 to Be Launched at New York International Auto Show 2006

International premiere of the redesigned Volvo XC90 luxury SUV will take place during the upcoming New York International Auto Show scheduled on April 12.



From the point of view of the exterior, the new Volvo XC90 underwent only minor facelift. CarPoint Australia says that there are only slight tweaks to the bumper/spoiler assembly and some cosmetic changes to the rear bumper and taillights. The interior has also been slightly modernized to give the XC90 even more luxurious look and feel.

The main changes are hidden under the hood. During the last years Volvo prepared a series of powerful, yet efficient engines that should make those gasoline-gluttonous SUVs more appealing to both European and American customers.

The most interesting one is the new 3.2-liter in-line engine, first introduced in the new Volvo S80 sedans. This six-cylinder unit is as compact and fuel efficient as a standard five-cylinder engine. The engine features such advanced technologies as VCT and CPS which, in short, let one engine function as a two changing its characteristics according to rev and load.

In its press release, Volvo also says that the new XC90 will also be equipped with Active Bi-Xenon Light tracking headlight system and Park Assist Camera.
