2008 Toyota Highlander hybrid will start at $33, 700
It took Toyota half a year to make its mind as to the 2008 Toyota Highlander hybrid SUV's price and specifications. Anyway, it's now officially confirmed that the crossover will be presented in two trim levels -Base and Limited- and there won't be a front-wheel-drive model: all hybrid-powered Highlanders will be equipped with AWD powertrain.

Both models will be powered by a 3.3-liter V6 270 hp engine and mated to Toyota's own 4WD-i transmission.

The entry-level 2008 Toyota Highlander hybrid Base will start at $33,700, which is $190 less than the previous hybrid-powered Highlander cost. The stuffed-up Limited version will carry a price tag of $39,950, which is an increase of $3,400 over the outgoing model.

For the money you'll get seven airbags, including a driver's knee airbag and roll-sensing side curtain airbags for all three rows in addition to active headrests for the driver and front passenger, traction control, electronic brake-force distribution, and brake assist and TPMS.

2008 Toyota Highlander hybrid (interior, back seats)
The Limited trim also features such standard equipment as three rows of leather-trimmed seats, multi-stage heated front seats, rear glass hatch, power rear door, AM/FM/six-disc in-dash CD changer , nineteen-inch alloy wheels, puddle lamps on outside mirrors, fog lamps and a third-row bench seat with foldable headrests for a flat rear cargo area.

Both Limited and Base Highlanders will have standard stand-alone backup camera with a 3.5-inch LCD multi-information screen, which is a huge benefit for the vehicle of this size.
