2008 Nissan Xterra gets higher price tag
The 2008 Nissan Xterra SUV will start at a significantly higher price than the outgoing model. Nissan North America plans to charge at least $21,130 for the base model.
The money are asked for the entry-level 2008 Nissan Xterra 4x2 X SUV equipped with a rear-wheel-drive, 261 hp 4.0-liter V6 engine, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
The SUV will be available in four trims - X, S, Off-Road, and the range-topping SE. While all versions will be available with 4x4 drive, only X, S and SE may be ordered with RWD. This seems like a pretty logical decision since you don't really want to go off-roading in an 4x2 SUV.
To justify the increase in the base price, Nissan has decided to make the list of standard equipment much longer.
For example, the 2008 Nissan Xterra X now comes equipped with power windows, locks and mirrors, as well as remote keyless entry and cruise control system.
More advanced S trim receives step rails, a cargo net, a first-aid kit, and on 4x4 versions, splash guards.
And the 2008 Nissan Xterra SE will be available with standard Bluetooth, XM pre-wiring (automatic models only), an auto-dimming mirror, and an eight-speaker Rockford Fosgate stereo.
