2008 Chevy Tahoe Hybrid mileage announced

The 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid SUVs are reported to go as many as 21 miles per gallon of gas in the city driving conditions (for the 2WD model), which is 50 per cent better than the same model with an ordinary 5.3-liter V8 powerplant may achieve. The numbers will not be equally impressive on the highway, though, being 22mpg and 20mpg respectively.







The 4WD Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid will feature 20 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.

The Tahoe Hybrid is equipped with a 'real' two-mode hybrid powertrain working together with 6.0L V8 and producing up to 332 hp and 367 lb-ft of combined torque. With all this power, the heavy SUV accelerates almost like a station wagon, reaching 60mph in a little bit more than 8 seconds, at the same time featuring 6,200 lbs of towing capacity.

Automotive News is reporting that the hybrid SUV will sell in the low- to mid-$40,000 range, so both Tahoe and the GMC Yukon hybrids will probably be loss-makers.
