Land Rover Freelander 2 / LR2 commercial SUV revealed

The British Indian company has been offering a commercial version of its Land Rover Discovery 3 SUV for more than a year and seems that the idea of converting a luxury SUV into a commercial vehicle was not that bad after all. Meet the Land Rover Freelander 2 / LR2 Commercial!







Just like the Disco 3, the Land Rover Freelander 2 / LR2 Commercial will be offered in "S" and "XS" trims. Both will share standard floor support frame, floor panel with lashing points, fixed rear side glass, rubber load space mat, tail door and side window guards and rear cargo lighting. The "XS" version will also add to this list a set of 17-inch alloy wheels, climate control, high-end 14-speaker (!!!) ICE entertainment system made by Alpine and part leather interior trim. Not that bad for a light commercial vehicle, right?

The SUVs will be equipped with either a 3.2-liter inline 6-cylinder gasoline engine, or a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder turbo diesel. The oil-burner produces a maximum of 300 lb-ft of torque, 158 bhp and offers generous 37 mpg fuel economy.

Set to debut at the Commercial Vehicle show to be held at the NEC in England on the 15th, 16th and 17th of April, the Land Rover Freelander 2 / LR2 Commercial will probably offer its future UK owners Benefit in Kind tax and full VAT reclaim associated with light commercial vehicles.
