GM Kills Hummer H1
Due to weak sales, General Motors executives agreed to stop production of the famous (but, oh, not so perfect) Hummer H1 sport utility vehicle. AutoWeek.com reports that formerly one of the most desired off-roaders will be discontinued this June.
Since Hummer H1 was introduced in 1992, General Motors managed to sell about 12,000 of the $129,000 military-looking SUV. The model was partly redesigned last year when Hummer H1 Alpha got a 6.6-liter diesel V8 engine, but that was not enough to boost customers' interest and improve sales, especially now when the oil costs so much. For the first four months of the year GM sold 98 H1s, six units less than during the same period a year ago.
