Fiat Palio Weekend Adventure Locker crossover goes to Brazil
Trying to reinforce its position in Latin America, the Italian car maker introduces yet another model on one of the local markets. This time, Brazilians are going to soon get the new Fiat Palio Weekend Adventure Locker crossover vehicle, which is not a crossover at all.
Although partly resembling the 2007 VW CrossGolf compact-van, the new Fiat Palio Weekend Adventure Locker is basically just a cheap station wagon with reinforced suspension and increased ground clearance.
No doubt, the car would be a total failure in the United States or some other country with extremely high (comparing to world's average) living standards, but in Brazil this is going to be a hit. I mean, the car is affordable and its exterior looks more or less bearable if you are not aiming too high. Well, the interior could have been more upscale and I really hate those instruments with orange markings (I mean, come on! You are going to burn your eyes out in a matter of five minutes!), but, all things considered, this is still a nice car.
What's really good about the Locker it is its ELD system. Available at speeds below 20 km/h, the ELD partially compensates the lack of an AWD on slippery surfaces, such as wet clay (they don't have snow there in Brazil).
Fiat plans to charge from R$39,920 (about USD 24,000) for the basic version, ELX 1.4 Flex, to R$53,850 (about USD 32,500) for the Adventure Locker 1.8 Flex.
