The
2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck will be equipped with an updated version of the 5.4-liter V8 engine capable of producing extra 20hp thanks to a new process of fuel injection.
Called 'open valve technology', the new process injects fuel into cylinders while they are open increasing the engine's maximum power and torque (the latter has been increased from 365 lb-ft to 390 lb-ft) and overall efficiency. The numbers are valid when the car is fueled with E85 bio-ethanol. Running on gasoline, the engine produces only 310hp and 365 lb-ft.
