Spanish SEAT plans to unveil its new SEAT Leon FR sports hatchback during the upcoming Madrid Motor Show next week. It is clear that the new car will compete directly against German VW Golf GTi.

2007 SEAT Leon FR to Compete Against VW Golf GTi
The Car Enthusiast reports that the new SEAT Leon FR will be available with a choice of engines. The first one, which works on petrol, will come directly from the above mentioned VW Golf GTi and will provide the car with 197 horsepower. The second will work on the diesel fuel. Being equipped with the common rail fuel injection system, the engine is able to produce about 168bhp at 258 lb-ft and will let you run about 47.1 mpg on the combined cycle.

The magazine reports that the petrol version will cost £16,995, and the diesel will sell at £17,495.
