Peugeot 107 Street Racing edition

In the time of looming gas prices and blah-blah-blah, consumers turn away from big SUVs and to smaller cars to zip around town. The same do most car makers, especially here in Europe where 95-grade unleaded gasoline sells close to $9 per gallon. No wonder that Peugeot keeps introducing special editions of its smallest cars. The new Peugeot 107 Street Racing edition is just another example of this policy.



The car is basically the same Peugeot 107 Sport XS offered to the British customers last year. Back then, I somehow missed its introduction so now is a good time to fill this gap.

The car comes equipped with a tiny fuel-sipping 68 hp 1.0-liter engine mated to a five-speed gearbox. The lack of power is partly compensated with a rather pretentious double red racing stripe running over the hood, roof and the rear door. A couple of lame "Street Racing" logos on the doors further humiliate the unfortunate driver and rightly so: when it comes to internal combustion engines, you either go green or go street racing because you can't serve two gods, can you?
