Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series to debut in Paris
Mercedes has finally revealed to the public some official info, as well as photos, on its upcoming Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG Black Series coupe.
Being 550 pounds (249kg) lighter than the standard SL-Class and featuring a powerful twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12, the car will sport better acceleration time and top speed numbers than the good old SLR McLaren 722.
Well, it seems that the SL65 Black Series' looks may fit into the same love it or hate it category that MB's archrival BMW loves so much, so let's just leave it at that. I personally love the car's exterior, although it looks like the guys from AMG a little bit overdid it with those extra wide carbon fiber fenders.
Speaking of carbon, AMG did its best to reduce the SL65's weight replacing original fenders, fixed roof, trunk and hood with those made of carbon fiber.
As to the engine, it now sports 661hp and 738lb-ft (1000Nm) of torque. Mated to a five speed automatic gearbox with AMG's speedshift software, the engine takes only 3.8 seconds to shoot to 60mph and reach an electronically limited top speed of 198mph (318 km/h).
