Porsche-based 9ff GT9 crashes the world record

There are tuners, there are super-tuners, and there is 9ff. The German tuning specialist doesn't waste its time creating plastic body kits and exclusive velour floor mats. Instead, the company takes any given Porsche, takes it apart, throws everything away leaving about 2 per cent of the original car, and then makes its own, street-legal monster.

Well, at least, that's how the 9ff GT9 is made. Based on the monstrous Porsche 911 Turbo, the car gets its 4.0-liter engine from the 996 Turbo. Besides increasing the engine's displacement, 9ff fits it with new superchargers, dry sump oil lubrication system, titanium connecting rods, forged pistons and a 24 carat hard gold plated induction plate.

With all these enhancements, the water-cooled 6-cylinder flat engine now produces up to 987PS @ 7850 rpm and 964Nm @ 5970 rpm. Mated to a performance sequential gearbox, the engine takes only 3.4 seconds to propel the car from zero to 100km/h, reaching the 200km/h in another 4.8 seconds. The car takes only 16.4 seconds to pass through the 300km/h barrier. Now, that's fast.

Considering that in ideal conditions the car's maximum speed may reach 409km/h, guys from 9ff wisely fit the GT9 with the Continental Vmax tires and ultra-light three-part forged wheels approved up to a speed of 410 km/h. The braking power comes courtesy of ceramic brake discs measuring 380 mm (front) and 350 mm (back) and sandwiched by the front 6- and rear 4-piston system.

Only 20 cars priced at €498,000 will be produced.
