Renault Megane R26.R limited edition revealed

Based on the current Renault Megane 230 F1 Team R26 hot hatchback, the R26.6 comes equipped with the same 2.0-liter 230hp engine, six-speed manual gearbox and limited slip differential, but is 123kg lighter, thus featuring better acceleration and much less comfort.



Renault's engineers managed to get rid of those 123 kilos replacing the original hood with an unpainted carbon-fiber one, and removing the rear seats all airbags but the driver's, climate controls system, foglights and most of soundproofing. Renault also says that even windscreen wipers were removed, although they are certainly present on some promo photos.

The R26.R's sportyness further underlined with an optional safety cage, 18-inch forged alloy wheels, Sabelt bucket seats with racing harnesses, titanium exhaust system, and new spoiler.

With all these enhancements, the car now takes only 6 seconds to get from zero to 100km/h. Only 450 units will be built and sold at a yet unspecified price.
