2009 Ford Fiesta will start at €11,250
Ford Europe has finally announced European pricing for its upcoming 2009 Ford Fiesta global mini car. The entry-level three-door model equipped with a 1.25-liter, 60hp petrol engine will be available at a price of just €11,250 (only $16,950 at current USD/EUR exchange rates).
The car will be available in five trims - Studio, Style, Style Plus, Zetec and Titanium - all of them available with a choice of three petrol engines ascending from the aforementioned tiny 1.25-liter, 60hp to more impressive 1.4-liter, 96hp powerplant mated to an automatic gearbox. The top of the line 2009 Ford Fiesta Titanium with the 1.4-liter engine will start at €14,250.
The most powerful 120hp, 1.6-liter Duratec Ti-VCT petrol engine will power the Fiesta Zetec S model. The sportiest of all, the little car will feature a glacier-like zero to 62mph acceleration time of 9.9 seconds (well, let's be honest here: it is as fast as the diesel-powered Mini Cooper D) but will return a fuel economy of 40mpg (5.88l/100km), which is not that bad for a warmed-up city car.
A diesel-powered version of the Fiesta will have a starting price of €14,500 for the three-door and €15,250 for the five-door version. In the top Titanium trim it will start from €16,250.
There will also be an 89hp, 1.6-liter Duratorq TDCi diesel engine powering the green 2009 Ford Fiesta ECOnetic. With this engine, the car will offer impressive fuel economy of 61.4 / 88.3 mpg in urban / highway driving, or 76.3 mpg in a combined cycle and will emit only 98g of CO2 per 100km. According to the French magazine La Boussole, it will be available at a price of €17,000 for the three-door and €17,500 for the five-door model. I guess, that's the best choice in the whole range.
