Spyker C8 Aileron to be presented at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance
The Dutch exotic car maker Spyker Cars is going to bring its Spyker C8 Aileron all-aluminum concept to the upcoming Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance motor show. The second generation C-line supercar will go into limited production before the end of 2008.
The Spyker C8 Aileron, the company says in its statement to the press, features an ideal for a sports car mid-engine configuration with an aluminum space frame clad in aluminum body panels. In fact, with so many parts made of aluminum, the company managed to increase the car's torsional rigidity by 40 percent and make it bigger (its wheelbase, for example, is increased by 100mm) "without adding any weight."
The Spyker C8 Aileron is powered by a 4.2-liter, 400bhp V8 engine outsourced from the Audi R8 supercar and mated to either a six-speed Getrag manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission.
Inside the car, there will be a premium Kharma sound system featuring GPS navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, a CD player and an iPod interface.
