Jetstream SC250 roadster will start at £29,495
The British Jetstream exotic car maker has finally commenced building its SC250 light sports roadster. Although designed for the track exploits, the car is nevertheless absolutely street-legal and, with its water-fed heating system, is even suitable for all-weather driving.
The Jetstream SC250 is powered by a turbocharged 250hp, 320Nm (236 lb-ft) 2.0-liter Ecotec four-banger, we've seen on the Opel Astra OPC model. Weighing only 700kg, the car sports an impressive 2.8kg/hp weight-to-power ratio. No wonder that the little roadster takes less than 4 seconds to accelerate from zero to 60mpg and only 11.8 seconds to run the quarter mile distance. Its top speed is reached at 165mph, which is also pretty much impressive.
The car comes equipped with a Tilton twin brake system with ventilated 285mm front discs, 278mm rear discs and standard General Motors calipers that may also be upgraded to a 4-pot caliper brake package from AP Racing. The SC250 rolls on a set of light alloy wheels, 16-inch front and 17-inch on the rear fit with Toyo Proxes rubber.
Inside the SC250's Spartan interior, you will find a 12V socket suitable for powering a mobile phone, a GPS device or an iPod.
Not more than 50 cars will be produced during the next year with each SC250 taking 6-8 weeks to build.
