2009 Subaru WRX will start at $24,995
Subaru plans to charge as low as $24,995 and $25,595 respectively for the four-door and the five-door versions of its 2009 Subaru WRX sports car, which will target the latest Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart sports car. Sporting a retuned 2.5-liter flat-four engine with 265 hp and 244 lb.-ft. of torque, the car is only slightly more expensive over the last year model, but features an increase of 41 hp and 18 lb-ft over the 2008 WRX.
The car will be equipped with a FWD and will sport only one five-speed manual transmission, which is a kind of surprising considering that even cars like Ferrari California have an automatic as a primary (and, sometimes, the only) choice of gearbox. Also, unlike the last year model, the 2009 Subaru WRX will be fitted with a set of low-profile 225/45R17 summer tires and the Aero package will be offered as a standard equipment.
The car, Subaru says in its press release, will also feature larger anti-roll bars, STI-outsourced upper strut mounts, stiffer springs and firmer dampers.
