2011 Chevrolet Cruze officially presented in Paris
At a special premiere event, General Motors President and COO Fritz Henderson and Ed Welburn, vice president of Global Design, together presented GM's new hope -- the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze compact sedan. The vehicle's exterior was revealed a week ago, and now GM finally presents a couple of high-resolution images of Cruze's interior. And, guess what, fabric is the new carbon fiber these days.

Right, the car's main point of attraction is the wide use of automotive fabric in its interior. The fabric is no longer limited to seats, but also covers other parts, including doors and center console. Counterintuitively, the fabric interior does have a kind of upscale feel, looking more expensive and, well, comfortable than the highly popular Alcantara or even carbon fiber trims. Faux aluminum trim on the center console also has quite a high-grade feel to it, as does the instrument cluster and an infortainment system.

The 2011 Chevy Cruze will come to Europe in March of 2009 and will be offered with three different engines; a 16-valve, 1.6-liter (112 hp) and 1.8-liter (140 hp) gasoline engine, and a new 2.0-liter turbo diesel delivering healthy 150 hp. Each powerplant will be mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. Sources say, that the car will feature impressive 45 mpg fuel economy, which is about 5.23 L/100km. Really good for an American car of this size.
