2009 Renault Megane Coupe to go on sale in November
Just unveiled at the Motor Show in Paris, the 2009 Renault Megane Coupe will go on sale next month to share showrooms with the new five-door Megane hatchback. Frankly speaking, the new Coupe is a hatchback, too, but only with three doors.

The new Megane is a kind of disappointment to me. While the older model was clearly standing out in morning traffic with its distinctive rear side, the new model's back looks like it was ripped off the Ford Focus three-door hatchback. Its front end also kind of lacking originality. Just like Subaru, Renault probably decided that, when sales are falling through the floor just about everywhere, it's not the best of times to further experiment with customers' tastes.

The car, Renault says in its press release, will be available with a wide choice of petrol and diesel engines, including a number of flex-fuel powerplants working on either bioethanol or biodiesel. Besides a six-speed manual gearbox, there will soon be added a continuously variable transmission.

No info on pricing yet.
