Ford is trying to save its sliding sales with new customization programs. First,
2009 Ford Mondeo, S-Max, Galaxy,
2009 Ford Fiesta, and
2009 Ford Kuga compact SUV received their own
Individual Packages. Now the smallest member of the family, the tiny
2009 Ford Ka, may be ordered with a custom color scheme.
At this time, only three -Digital, Grand Prix, and Tattoo- color schemes are offered. As you can see on the photos above and below, they all include a strip going through the car's hood, roof and hatch, painted grille and mirrors outside, as well as painted door pulls, instrument cluster shroud, door panels, air vents and parts of steering wheel inside. Seats and central console also get patched with leather and fabric of the same color.
The
Ford Ka Digital comes painted black with patches of high-contrast acid-green color. The
Ford Ka Grand Prix features a sporty red color with white pattern. And the
Ford Ka Tattoo, which is probably the most expensive, comes with a pair of tribal tattoo decals on its roof and on the front fender.
For some extra money, one may also order chrome door handles and tailgate handle, chrome exhaust trim; leather seats, gear knob and handbrake; velour floor mats with Ka logo; color-keyed rear spoiler; and custom alloy wheels ranging in size from 14 to 16 inches.
The special edition 2009 Ford Ka will be available starting January 2009.
