Veracruz-based 2009 Hyundai ix55 presented in Paris

The new Hyundai ix55 is not just an ordinary Euro-spec seven-seating Hyundai Veracruz SUV. Trying to meet expectation of picky European customers, Hyundai has retuned the vehicle's suspension, reequipped its interior, and offered more powerful diesel engine mated to Hyundai's first six-speed automatic gearbox.



The engine in question is the 3.0-liter CRDI turbodiesel engine. Capable of producing 240PS and 451Nm of torque, the oil-burner takes only 10.4 seconds to push the car from zero to 100km/h. Not too much on the computer screen, but more than enough on the road, since the torque is available almost instantly allowing for an energetic 0-60km/h acceleration. Its top speed is limited at 200km/h.

2009 Hyundai ix55 will consume about 9.4L/100km (about 25 mpg) in a combined cycle.

Inside the car, company says in its press release, you'll find a standard Infinity audio system, cruise control (well, looks like still no Distronic in a foreseeable future) suede-covered seats, dual-zone climate control with separate controls for rear passengers. There is also a long list of optional equipment.
