Daihatsu launches its Sonica mini-MPV
Created for the Japanese market, the new Daihatsu Sonica measures only 3,395 mm in length, 1,475 mm in width and 1,470 mm in height. The car is powered with a 64 hp, 0.658-liter, three-cylinder turbo KF-DET engine mated with the latest CVT transmission, which not only ensures smooth driving but also provides impressive fuel economy -- 2WD trim can run 23 kilometers (about 14 miles) on just one liter of gasoline (it's something like 54 mpg).

The new Daihatsu Sonica, which sits four passengers, comes in three trims, R, RS, and RS Limited, but it is not clear from the press release, what difference those indexes make. Probably, it's all about interior finish and some 'premium' options.

In Japan the car will cost ¥1.13 - 1.475 million (approx. $9,840 - 12,840).
