2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser Available For Test-Drive
In its communiqués de presse Toyota Canada Inc., announced that the eagerly awaited 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser 4x4 SUV will be available for test drives tomorrow morning during the 2006 Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.
First shown at Detroit just three years ago, the FJ Cruiser concept eventually transforms into a production version. Being an almost direct heir of the military 1967 FJ40 Land Cruiser legacy, the FJ Cruiser features a distinct retro, yet very modern exterior design. Painted white roof meets an upright windshield with three wipers, wrap-around rear-corner glass and a pair of round headlights set on either side of a honeycomb mesh grille. Industrial, that is.
The FJ Cruiser comes with a fully boxed steel frame and short overhangs in two- and four-wheel-drive versions. Notice, that the 4x4 models feature ground clearance of about 9.6 inches -- that is 0.5" more than can give you the new HUMMER H3.
As to the power supply, the car will be equipped with a decent 4.0-liter, 24-valve, DOHC V6, 245hp and 282 pound-feet of torque engine that can be mated with either five-speed automatic or (4x4 models only) six-speed manual gearbox.
It is estimated that the FJ Cruiser's base price will be about $21,710 for 4x2 version and $22,890 for a 4x4.
